WOAH! Keeping up with the Krazy Kardashian wedding

In the wake of Royal Wedding mania, it seems everyone’s getting married (no, this isn’t a hint for our boyfriends, we really mean it). Let’s recap: Lily Allen’s vintage-esque ceremony was followed by Kate Moss’s Glasto-fabulous affair. Then there was an Armani-fest for the Monaco wedding and, of course, Abbey Clancey marriedPeter Crouch in that amazing Giles gown. Next, Zara Phillips walked up the aisle amid a nude courts extravaganzaRachel Weisz got wed in a top-secret ceremony and, most recently, Grazia Daily was admiringKatie Shillingford’s Gareth Pugh bridal dress.
So you see, this season’s must-have is a big ol’ sparkler a-top a glittering wedding band, which is why it came as no surprise when Kim Kardashian rushed to partake in the trend – and boy, is she going for it. Forget Big Fat Gypsy-style dresses covered in plumes of pink tulle, or K-Middy’s horse-drawn carriage, because Kim’s eye-watering budget of $10 million ensures hers will be the ceremony to top ALL ceremonies. And honestly, if the two glittery ponies for the engagement party are anything to go by (uh-huh), it’s gonna be a doddle for Ms Kar-Fash.
Brilliantly, there’s not long to wait to ooh and ahh over Kim’s extravaganza, which takes place in just two days. The bachelorette party has already gone down in Las Vegas (where else?) and rumours about the bridal gown have long whetted our fashion palette – it’s set to be a jaw-dropping Vera Wang design with a $500,000 price tag, dontcha know. Plus, if the wedding invitations are anything to go by, we know there’s a strict monochrome colour scheme for the ceremony. Guests, including Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz, have been instructed to ‘please wear black or white’, presumably to avoid any leopard print thong flashes or fluffy yellow hat fiascos *cough* Liz Hurley and Princess Anne.
And then there’s The Ring. Kim’s Lorraine Schwartz stunner is so ridiculously gigantic, it puts the Taylor-Burtondiamond to shame. Granted, it cost her basketballing fiancĂ© Kris Humpries a whooping $2million (eep) so although it may not be to err, everyone’s taste, that’s not gonna stop Kim from blinding us with her bling. Par exemple, earlier this week, the glossy bride-to-be was spotted at the Do Something Awards in Hollywood wearing a ruched Antonio Berardi floor-sweeper and just in case anyone had missed her mega-rock, she accessorised it with a ridiculously flashy matching clutch. Blinging heck, would you look at the SIZE of that thing?! We can only imagine how Kim’s wedding band is going to match up…

So remember to check back here on Monday for all the deets post-Kardashian wedding. And don’t fret if you missKourtney having a tiz-woz about her bridesmaid dress or the mother of the bride shedding a tear onto her newly-facelifted cheeks, because it’ll all be shown on their telly show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Naturally.

Rugby and royalty mingle at wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall

NOW THAT’S FUNNY

Ready for another royal wedding? I am! I followed Will and Kate’s wedding closely, and I love that British royal tradition. Then last month, Prince Albert of Monaco got married to Charlene Wittstock, which was okay and all, but Monaco royalty and British royalty are two different things entirely.

Then Will and Kate came to America, and I saw their pictures in the magazines at the grocery store checkout, and they were glamorous, but it’s not the same as a wedding. So who cares if you’ve never heard of Zara Phillips until today – she’s in line for the throne and she’s getting married this Saturday!

Ms. Phillips is the daughter of Princess Anne, who is the daughter of Queen Elizabeth. She is thirteenth in line for the throne, which means she gets all the fun of royalty with none of the pressure. She is marrying Mike Tindall, a champion rugby player.

Mr. Tindall has a rather misshapen nose, a souvenir of his busy athletic career. It has been broken eight times. His future mother-in-law, Princess Anne, actually suggested that he get plastic surgery in time for the wedding – and the wedding photos. He declined.

The festivities were kicked off with a cocktail party for 150 guests on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Treat yourself to some yummy photos here from CBS News.
Albert II, Prince of MonacoImage via WikipediaThe wedding, to take place in Scotland, will be attended by 300 guests. The reception will be held at the Queen’s Scottish home, The Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The guests will be a spicy mix of royalty and rugby folk. It is rumored that Ms. Phillips will wear a tiara from the Queen’s collection that will compliment her designer gown. Word also has it that Ms. Phillips, a world class equestrian, has been exercising like a demon to get ready for the big day.

The couple will forgo a honeymoon for now. Mike Tindall needs to report back to training camp Sunday night to prepare for a big series of games in Wales. Perhaps it is a blessing that they are not honeymooning on the Britannia itself; four other couples who did so saw their marriages doomed: Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon sailed in 1960, Zara's mum Princess Anne and father Captain Mark Phillips shared the room in 1973, Charles and Diana honeymooned in 1981, and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson used the boat for their honeymoon in 1986.

I can’t wait to see the wedding pictures.
